Jim in Tuscon writes: Hi Doc! I listened to your interview on BU today. You mentioned you have a course on teaching vocals. I’ve been unable to locate it on your site. Would you send me information regarding purchasing this product. This could save my marriage. 🤣 Thank you sir.
Jim,
Best I can guess, I was probably referencing “Learning to Sing in Tune“, a popular article on my site. Please note, the instructions are not to the student but to the teacher, and it’s about how to help the student. So if you know a friendly, non-scary, but knowledgeable musician, have them read the article and follow it carefully. A lot of teachers go their own way and improvise, but this is a method that I KNOW works… in fact it never has failed.
If it’s really about saving your marriage, come to Colorado and I can get you singing in tune within 5 minutes. It doesn’t “suddenly solve the problem” but proves you’re not hopeless, and then playing an instrument in a key that is comfortable for you, and singing along… that’s the long-term solution. That’s what got me singing OK when I was a teenager.
Let me know how it goes.
Jim in Tuscon writes: Hi Doc, I apologize for the confusion. It’s my wife, Yvonne, who was having difficulty singing. I’ve been playing and singing since 1972. Until I heard your interview I thought a person was born with the ability to hear a note, and replicate it vocally, or not. So, I studied your method and gave my wife a lesson this evening. The results were truly amazing! She’s starting to hear the pitch of a note and able to adjust. I also incorporated the timing aspect and she understands it. I feel so bad I’ve prevented her from singing with us all this time. But, she’s singing and happy now! Marriage in good shape. Thank you.
