Bluegrass Jam Camp

July 3, 2023 – July 6, 2023 EDT

Taught by Austin Scelzo using the Wernick Method

Black Mountain, NC during the Creative Strings Workshop

Christmount Conference Center, 222 Fern Way, Black Mountain, NC 28711 (just 15 miles from Asheville)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 2:30-5pm each day

Students will work with top tier musicians, including Justin Branum — regular fiddler on the Grand Ole Opry. Students will also have access to Conference Center and evening hangs with Creative Strings Workshop Students, including two performances on Wednesday and Thursday.

This class is presented as part of the Creative Strings Workshop. Register for the full week CSW camp (Session B) and receive free tuition for this Wernick Method camp; you will be added to the Wernick Method roster as well, no further action needed. Austin Scelzo

Danbury, CT

Austin Scelzo was introduced to various fiddle traditions at Mark O’Connor’s early Berklee String Camps and over time picked up all the bluegrass instruments along with singing, songwriting, and jamming. While enjoying four years as a middle school music teacher. Austin’s bluegrass journey began with CT-based groups The Angry O’Haras and On the Trail, on fiddle and vocals.

Now performing with The Rock Hearts, respected New England bluegrass veterans, he is active in the bluegrass community, creating and managing the Bluegrass Coffeehouse performance venue, hosting jams, and launching the Connecticut Bluegrass Music Association.
