Beth Mead


Beth Mead (Elkins Park, PA) fell in love with the banjo the first time she heard Earl Scruggs, and started playing banjo at 15, joining bluegrass bands including the Tookany Creek Band, Haywire and the Whereabouts. For 18 years she taught banjo, guitar, bluegrass history and stagecraft in TX at the South Plains College bluegrass program and Camp Bluegrass, where she and Alan Munde co-wrote The Great American Banjo Songbook. Her many recordings include bluegrass and big band tunes played in bluegrass style. Beth also plays swing and jazz guitar in the Philadelphia area with Front Porch Swing and the Wanamaker Lewis Trio.
