Fred Staunton (Reynoldsburg, OH) picked up the banjo as an adult and started teaching Wernick Method jam classes in 2021. He leads weekly jams and performs with his church bluegrass gospel group at church events and senior living facilities.

George Welling (Worthington, OH) says “I’d been studying banjo about three years when I went to my first jam session and found I couldn’t keep up at all. So, I switched to bass.” Since the 1980s George has jammed and played in bluegrass groups in the DC area. He’s also taught Bluegrass Kids Academy classes at the Gettysburg and Delaware Valley festivals. Moving to Ohio in 2017 he started two weekly bluegrass jams in Columbus, and currently plays bass with Appalachian Swing other central Ohio bands.
