Keith Murdock (Boulder, CO) plays resophonic guitar, banjo and guitar, sings lead and harmony in the Orchard Creek Bluegrass Band and writes music. Keith started playing guitar in the 60s learning Ventures and Dick Dale tunes. He received a music degree, worked for the Country Music Association in Nashville and Feyline Concerts in Denver. His 70s and 80s bands opened for the Talking Heads, Huey Lewis, and the Ramones. Later on, he was introduced to bluegrass through being asked to play for a church service, and fell in love with the music through the Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe, and Flatt & Scruggs.

“Whenever I attend a jam when Keith is attending, I always know it’s gonna be a good one! He inherently knows jam etiquette and dynamics. With his advanced musicianship, modesty, humor and kindness, he leads a friendly and welcoming jam making it fun for all skill levels, you feel grateful to be there. Sitting next to Keith at a jam is the best seat in the house!”
Keith is well-versed in the bluegrass jamming tradition, having participated in and led jams for over 10 years, from Colorado to Virginia to Australia. From personal experience, I know that Keith works with musicians of all abilities with a gracious and encouraging attitude.
“Keith is a wonderful musician to work with, relaxed and motivated. He has great rhythm and an intuitive sense of harmony and melody.”
“I have known Keith Murdock for years, as both an educator and a musician and I consider him to be extraordinary in both fields. He brings top communication abilities and deep enthusiasm to the table.”
