Pete Wernick is renowned worldwide for his accomplishments and contributions to bluegrass music: the hot-picking force in several trend-setting bands including Hot Rize, innovative teacher and author, songwriter, and long-term President of the International Bluegrass Music Association. Always active in the teaching of banjo and bluegrass, Pete was the original pioneer of bluegrass music camps in the early 1980s. Having since taught about 200 camps in about half of the U.S. states and three other countries, he continues to host several per year.

In 2010, he launched the Wernick Method of teaching bluegrass jamming which as of 2021 has certified over 100 teachers offering classes in 46 states and 11 countries. See Pete’s full bio

“At camp you helped me realize I could be a banjo player, rather than a guy who just plays the banjo. It’s something of my identity now. You wanted people to be a part of a community, you wanted people to share and grow, and you were systematic and intelligent about. Thanks for your guidance and being a role model.”
“Pete Wernick is a master teacher with decades of experience in promoting and advancing bluegrass education at all levels. His methods seriously address the fact that most pickers quit while still at a beginning level due to the use of ineffective materials and methods. His approach quickly leads one to becoming an independent and successful learner. Pete’s camps could be thought of as bluegrass “boot camps” because they are skill based, experience based and intensive. The camps involve a lot of challenging and enjoyable group work.”
“I truly am happy that I have been able to attend your camps and never expected to be in this position to enjoy playing so much.”
“I appreciate your teaching style very much, because you blend humor and affirmation and discipline so well.”

I pretty much need to look at the chords to remember them. 😁

Looking forward to this, especially to gaining confidence to sing in public and finding the right key for the right songs.
One maybe glitch — I have severe food allergies to nuts (tree nuts and peanuts), and to “seafood” (including freshwater fish). Would it be better for me to just bring my own food?

My uncle had bluegrass festivals in southern Ohio in the 70’s. I know Bill Monroe was there, but can’t remember the others. I was a kid.
