Russ Holder (Huntsville, AL) has played guitar and resonator guitar (“dobro”) since junior high school and taught those instruments since 2000. His parents introduced him and his brothers to music early on and once they learned to play in their teens, they formed a bluegrass group and began performing around the Southeast U.S. He has performed across the U.S. from North Carolina to Hawaii. Russ currently plays with Grasstronauts bluegrass band and the WoodPickers acoustic Americana band, teaches at the Huntsville Strings Shop, attends local and regional jams, and enjoys working with music students of all ages.
“Russ has the heart of a teacher. He is very patient and positive.”
“Russ has a unique way of explaining and demonstrating answers to all my crazy music questions!”
“I like his teaching style. He has shared many unique music skills with me, including how to approach a public music performance. I do not think I could have done it without his help!”
