Pete Wernick

Pete Wernick (Niwot, CO) has taught more new bluegrass jammers than anyone! A pioneer in bluegrass music instruction, his jam camps, banjo camps, instruction videos and books, DrBanjo.com website, and worldwide touring with the Bluegrass Hall of Fame band Hot Rize have inspired players for decades, and led to the creation of the Wernick Method in 2010. See Pete’s full bio.

“I truly am happy that I have been able to attend your camps and never expected to be in this position to enjoy playing so much.”

“Pete and Joan gave us explanations and pointers that made us feel more confident in jamming. With patience and encouragement they helped each one of us identify specific areas of instrumentation and singing where we could improve. We learned how to sing harmonies and choose the best key for our voice, as well as tricks for improvising solos on our instruments. Pete shows endless enthusiasm for Bluegrass music and shared fascinating stories of his many years of involvement in its history.”

“Pete Wernick is a master teacher with decades of experience in promoting and advancing bluegrass education at all levels. His methods seriously address the fact that most pickers quit while still at a beginning level due to the use of ineffective materials and methods. His approach quickly leads one to becoming an independent and successful learner. Pete’s camps could be thought of as bluegrass “boot camps” because they are skill based, experience based and intensive. The camps involve a lot of challenging and enjoyable group work.”
“I appreciate your teaching style very much, because you blend humor and affirmation and discipline so well.”
