Dennis Nowack


Dennis Nowack (Birmingham, AL) played electric guitar and piano in a surf band at 16, but at 21 saw Doc Watson, soon switched to acoustic guitar, and added banjo which became his main instrument. He started teaching guitar in 2010 during a lull in his chiropractic career. 

Dennis loved jamming, but was petrified to play banjo at jams. He heard Alan Munde advise: “There are 3 ways to become a good player: Jam, Jam and Jam”. Dennis did that and immediately improved, playing banjo in bands in CA, OR, and ID, and taking first place in the famed Topanga Canyon Banjo and Fiddle Contest.
