Joel Bremson (Davis, CA) plays guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and bass. He came to bluegrass from other genres — singer/songwriter, indie rock, jazz, gospel — and picked it up later than most, starting on bass with The Sweet By and By. That background gave him perspective on the challenges of coming to bluegrass, and what makes it click. He teaches privately and also started a bluegrass jam class because he saw a need for it. He finds the most exciting part of this work is introducing people to a musical world they didn’t know existed — and helping them realize they can join it.
Alex Levine (Winters, CA) …
“It’s been awesome learning to how to play in a jam session, improvisation techniques and licks, use of capo, and learning from each other.”

“I’ve enjoyed the experience of playing in a group focusing on good songs and useful skills. My playing time is usually alone at home. This jam class has been good to go beyond that.”
