Joel Denman

Durango, CO

Joel Denman has a passion for bluegrass that began as a teenager growing up in Colorado. He actively gigs on fiddle, mandolin, guitar and baritone vocals, and was a public school music teacher for 30 years. He currently plays with Durango bands The Badly Bent, and The Blue Moon Ramblers. Joel holds a degree from Berklee College of Music, and is a past board member of the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society.

As a jam coach, Joel mixes his easy-going personality with a drive to inspire life-long musicians. He is especially fond of  the inclusivity so common in the bluegrass scene, and how seasoned pickers will encourage youngsters and novice players to join in!
