Level 2 Weekend Jam Camp

Level 2 Camp: Designed for Wernick Method graduates and others comfortable with the basics, soloing in different keys (exceptions below), finding melodies, leading songs, slightly faster tempos, who want a more challenging experience. Any questions about qualifications, contact John. The goal of this camp will be to elevate your skills both collectively and individually, to give you ideas for better soloing, singing, backup and ensemble playing and provide the opportunity to put those ideas into action with immediate feedback. Topics of emphasis will include:
- rhythm and backup playing with focus on how it works in a live band situation
- developing your soloing style (optional for rhythm only guitarists and bassists)
- learning and understanding fiddle tunes and instrumentals
- trio harmony singing (for those who can carry a part)
We will also look at handling more demanding chord changes, moveable ideas for soloing in different positions, and mastering different keys.
John David (Glendale, CA) is a master on banjo, mandolin, dobro, guitar, and harmonica. He also plays fiddle and bass. He toured with music luminaries the Limeliters, performed with Leon Redbone, and has recorded for many television shows, commercials, and movie soundtracks. John created two instructional videos, on banjo and mandolin, for the Warner Brothers “Ultimate Beginner” series. While the Denver Post describes him as a “guitarist’s guitarist”, John is also eager to help everyday people with the challenges of learning to jam.
